Beginning Sunday August 11th, Community and Business Leaders of San Francisco Chinatown and Livable City will host an 8-week block party series called “Sunday Play Streets” in Chinatown at Waverly Place (between Sacramento & Washington St.) occurring each Sunday, ending September 29th.

Free fun open-street block party events empowering local communities to transform blocks of car-congested streets into car-free community spaces for kids to play, seniors to stroll, organizations to connect and neighbors to meet. Livable City, the non-profit organization that sponsors and supports this program, has provided all the permitting, outdoor furniture and barricades in Chinatown’s Waverly Place so that we can activate our city street.

The 8-week program will feature Wilma Pang Street Musicians, The Lion Dance Me routines, outdoor table seating for local restaurant customers, and games for the kids provided by Livable City each week.

In addition to the weekly performers, Sunday Play Streets will feature Community Programming that benefits both residents and visitors of Chinatown. Health, Safety, History, Art & Culture will be key educational topics for each event.
