Lillian Gong-Guy Memorial Scholarship

The Chinese Historical and Cultural Project (CHCP) was founded in 1987 to promote and preserve the history and culture of the Chinese and Chinese Americans in Santa Clara County; additionally, we promote cultural and educational projects for the betterment of the community, including investing in the future of our youth.

In tribute to our late co-founder, Lillian Gong-Guy, who dedicated her life to CHCP and many other community projects, we award the Lillian Gong-Guy Memorial Scholarship to Santa Clara County high school seniors of Chinese descent who demonstrate academic achievement, as well as involvement in their school and community. Scholarships are awarded to exemplary seniors based on academic achievement and a demonstration of community involvement and service. Scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $2,000.

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Have a minimum 3.25 GPA
  • Be a Santa Clara County high school senior in the Class of 2021
  • Be of Chinese descent
  • Reside in Santa Clara County, California
  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
  • Be college-bound and be able to show proof of acceptance to an accredited college prior to receiving the award
  • Supply 2 Letters of Recommendation
  • Supply High School Transcripts

CHCP uses Going Merry, an online scholarship search and application platform, for its application process.

The deadline for submitting scholarship applications for 2021 has passed.
