The Year of the Ox starts on February 12, 2021. Come join History San Jose (HSJ) as they talk with members from the Chinese American Historical Museum and Viet Museum to explore how Chinese American and Vietnamese American communities in San Jose celebrate the lunar new year. Even in times of COVID-19, communities find a way to maintain their cultural traditions. Let’s talk about what people eat, do, or say, and how these traditions have persisted or been adapted in the Santa Clara Valley. CHCP Governing Trustee Anita Wong Kwock will be sharing Chinese Lunar New Year traditions at this event.
"Just wanted to express my thanks to the volunteers...at the museum for their wonderful hospitality...Was a beautiful presentation of the history as well as a cultural imprint of Chinese immigration in this valley...Thank you once again and it was such a pleasure."
