The Year of the Ox starts on February 12, 2021. Come join History San Jose (HSJ) as they talk with members from the Chinese American Historical Museum and Viet Museum to explore how Chinese American and Vietnamese American communities in San Jose celebrate the lunar new year. Even in times of COVID-19, communities find a way to maintain their cultural traditions. Let’s talk about what people eat, do, or say, and how these traditions have persisted or been adapted in the Santa Clara Valley. CHCP Governing Trustee Anita Wong Kwock will be sharing Chinese Lunar New Year traditions at this event.
"My father and I had a wonderful time spending the afternoon at the Chinese American Historical Museum. The presentation that the teens put on about the history of the Chinese working on the railroads and the racial injustice was very well done...We enjoyed talking with everyone so much and learned a lot while we were there."
